Resources for families and educators

It's important to me that I use my privilege, expertise, and energy to create and share sustainable resources for others.

Here you’ll find resources I have created and/or assembled to share with Lansing School District families and educators.

Let me know if there’s another gap we need to fill somewhere!

❋ Templates for family advocacy

A lot of my advocacy starts with my own children, but I fundamentally believe that my impact should go beyond my own family. Now, every time I write an email or make a public comment, I use my privilege, expertise, and energy to turn it into a sustainable resource for others:

Template - Assess standards, not logistical rigor

Template - Request to protect recess

Template - Concerns about Testing Practices

❋ Digestible research briefs

When I compile research to share with families and educators, I do it in a reusable way.

For example, I’ve been championing recess in our district since 2019. Do you want to know more about why recess (movement and unstructured play time) is so important developmentally, and what alternatives educators have to reducing or revoking recess as a behavior consequence? Like many punitive measures, revocation of recess disproportionately affects children of color. If you value recess like I do (and its impact on instructional time!) please use and share these resources:

❋Curricular resources

I helped plan Post Oak Academy’s Black History events in 2026. Here are Black History curricular resources that I compiled and shared with families and educators:

❋ More to come!

As families and educators reach out to me with concerns, my list of topics for templates and other help grows!
